Call For Artists:
“Meme Me” - an exploration of isolation and connection
We are looking for large scale painters for an exhibition happening Oct 2020
Coast Streaming is thrilled to be working in conjunction with the Sunshine Coast Art Council building on last year's unique pop-up immersion event “The Space Between," which was produced by the Sechelt Arts Festival and held at the Doris Crowston Gallery in the Sunshine Coast Arts Centre in Sechelt, B.C.
Artist Call:
We are looking for four artists to complete 5’ by 7’ paintings based around the theme of isolation and connection interpreted though imaginative landscapes.
These landscapes could be dream scapes, places that were not visited due to the recent travel restrictions, realistic fantasy worlds or compete abstractions. A consistent horizon line at 4 feet from the bottom of the painting is required to play with the immersive nature of the show. They will be displayed in a room with projections, and will have an unconventional lighting approach.
As this show is geared towards a diverse audience, including children, we are looking for subject matter that is appropriate for young viewers.
Artists will be provided with a primed un-stretched canvas and some paints.
An honorarium will be provided.
Artists will own their paintings after the show is complete.
CoastStreaming is a performance-based art collective located on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, Canada. We produce visual/performance art shows that are enacted live and simultaneously broadcast through an internet streaming service.
We strive to include several forms of visual and performance art, and our imagination is limitless—a typical show could include dance, live music performance, digital visual effects, digital images and film, physical paintings and sculpture, and miscellaneous real-life props. It is our aim to combine these diverse forms of art into a comprehensive whole in new and imaginative ways. Our shows can be rehearsed or improvised, or a bit of both.
